— PLANTATION BARBADOS 2001 —
TROPICAL : ELEGANT AND EXOTIC
It is said that the first trace of rum distillation dates back to 1651 on the island of Barbados. The vintage Plantation is a perfect example of rum from the island, at once voluptuous, smooth and fruity.
Alc./Vol. : 42%
Origin : Barbados
Raw material : Molasses
Fermentation : 3 days
Distillation : 2001, pot still and column
Tropical ageing : 11 years in Bourbon cask, Barbados
Continental ageing, elevage : 2 years in Pierre Ferrand cask, Château de Bonbonnet, France.
Aristocratic nose that is a vibrant tribute to exotic fruits and spices: ripe banana gives way to dried pineapple, mango, cinnamon, cardamom and curry. Full of personality with aromas of nougat, mint chocolate, candied walnut on the first palate evolving to candied orange, vanilla and pastries with a sweet and biscuity finish.
The label shows the Morgan Lewis mill, the last active sugar cane mill on the island. The trident found on the frieze is reminiscent of the flag of Barbados, a symbol of independence and a bright future.
